Young
carers can be aged between 5 and 18 and can do a range
of tasks in and around the house. They are sometimes
left alone to do the caring and some of their tasks
may involve washing, cooking, shopping, dressing the
person they care for and much more. Young carers may
even sometimes give medicine, take care of the household
bills and manage the money, help wash the person they
care for and look after younger siblings.
